The UK Health Security Agency has issued an amber heat-health alert for the South of England, covering the whole of our network, until 21:00 on Sunday 12 July.
During this extended period of hot weather, please travel as normal but check your journeys before setting off.
Planned changes will impact a small number of services when the temperatures are forecast to be highest on Thursday afternoon, but otherwise we plan to run a normal service:
West of England
Between 1200 and 2000, customers travelling between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids will be asked to change trains at Basingstoke.
Running a shuttle service between Exeter St David’s and Basingstoke will help provide more reliable and resilient service for customers on the West of England line. Basingstoke connections will also be improved by adding stops to services between Weymouth and London Waterloo.
Other minor service amendments may be necessary – please check journey planners before you travel.
Travel to coastal destinations
Trains and stations on the South Coast, including destinations like Bournemouth and Weymouth, are expected to be very busy.
Please plan ahead by checking return train times carefully and allowing extra time to board a service.
If you are travelling, remember to carry water with you and speak to a railway colleague if you feel unwell during your journey
