What is an HM Forces Railcard
The HM Forces Railcard is a discount card available in the United Kingdom for members of the armed forces and their families. It offers a variety of benefits, primarily discounted train travel, allowing users to save on rail fares.
Members of HM Forces and/or a member’s spouse may take up to 4 children aged between 5 and 15 years (incl) on the travel date.
What are the benefits of an HM Forces Railcard?
HM Forces Railcard discounts include saving 1/3 on most standard and first class fares, and you can use your railcard anytime. You can save 60% on child fares for children travelling with you.
If you travel on weekdays before 10:00, there is a minimum fare of £12.00, except on public holidays. There is no minimum fare during July and August to allow you to make the most of your summer leave! Plus, you can avail of rewards with your rail tickets.
Am I eligible for an HM Forces Railcard?
The HM Forces Railcard can be issued to the following individuals:
- A serving member of the armed forces.
- A serving member of reserve forces (Army Reserves, Maritime Reserves or Royal Air Force Reserve).
- A spouse of a serving member of the armed forces or reserve forces.
- A child of a serving member of the armed forces or reserve forces.
- A widow/widower of a member of the armed forces or reserve forces.
How much does an HM Forces Railcard cost?
The HM Forces railcard costs £21.
How do I apply for an HM Forces Railcard?
HM Forces Railcards are unavailable to buy at National Rail stations or online, but you can get one from your Unit HR admin staff, or, in the case of war widows/widowers, through the Royal British Legion.
