GroupSave train tickets

Travelling in a group of 3-9 people? Then GroupSave tickets could be for you

Buy GroupSave train tickets to any destination in Britain – no booking fee

Travelling in a group of 3-9 people? Get GroupSave tickets to save a 1/3 on your fare! When you book Standard Class tickets online or on the SWR app, we’ll automatically apply the discount. All you need to do from there is travel together on your chosen route.

 GroupSave discount for families

You can still get GroupSave discounts when travelling as a family. Instead of getting separate child and adult tickets, simply enter the group size, including the children, upon booking. Our system will work out the best discount for your group size. For example, if there are 2 adults and 1 child, GroupSave would be applied. If there are 2 adults and 2+ children, GroupSave would be applied to the adults and 1 child, and then a normal child fare would be applied for each additional child.

You can’t use Railcard discounts in addition to GroupSave tickets, but if you travel with kids regularly a Family and Friends Railcard is well worth considering to use instead – you get 1/3 off adult fares and 60% off child fares.

Which ticket types can you get GroupSave discounts with?

You can get GroupSave discounts with:

Bear in mind you can’t travel First Class with GroupSave or use Railcard discounts.

If you’re not travelling in a group of 3-9, you can get discounts with a Railcard instead of GroupSave, which typically offer a third off your fare.

Save more money with SWR Rewards

You still have access to SWR Rewards discounts when you buy GroupSave tickets. With SWR Rewards, you can get discounts on activities, hotel stays, food and drink, and more.

Do I need a Railcard for GroupSave?

Railcard discounts don’t apply when you buy GroupSave tickets.

Where can I buy GroupSave train tickets?

You can buy GroupSave tickets at the station, or on our website and SWR app.

Does everyone included in the GroupSave ticket need to travel on the same train?

Everyone who’s booked on the GroupSave ticket needs to travel on the same train otherwise you may be asked to pay the full fare for the journey or a Penalty Fare.

If the group needs to split up into smaller groups on different journeys at any time, then you could buy separate GroupSave tickets for each smaller group – for example, if there are 9 of you, you could get 3 separate GroupSave tickets for each group of 3.

Travelling in a group of 10+ people?

If 10 or more of you are travelling together consider getting a Group Travel ticket, eligible for off-peak journeys.
