Learn about the items you can bring on board a train, from luggage, to buggies to pets
Changes to our Cycle Policy
We made changes to our Cycle Policy which includes e-Scooters. These changes have been effective since 1 June 2023.
Can I bring bicycles on board?
We allow bicycles on some of our trains. Check our cycle policy before you travel.
Can I bring bags and luggage on board?
Off on a trip? We have luggage racks and overhead racks to help store larger bags, cabin bags and smaller items. Please remember not to block the aisles, doorways and wheelchair areas with your bags, and to move them off the seat next to you if someone wants to sit down. It's a good idea to keep your luggage where you can see it at all times, and don't forget to take it with you when you leave the train.
You must always keep your personal items with you when at stations. Unattended items will be removed without warning and may be damaged or destroyed
Can I bring prams on board?
You’re welcome to travel with buggies and prams on our trains. You will often find space to store your pram either in the designated wheelchair area or folded up in the luggage or overhead racks. Please remember that if a wheelchair user needs the designated wheelchair space, they have priority, even if you were using the space before they got on the train.
Can I bring pets on board?
We welcome your four-legged friends on board free of charge.
You can bring up to 2 dogs on the train and they must be kept on a lead for the duration of the journey
E-scooters pose a fire risk due to the potential of their Lithium-Ion batteries overheating. While the chances of a fire are small, the consequences are very serious.
Are e-scooters allowed on any other train operator’s trains and stations?
Yes, powered mobility scooters/aids which comply with our mobility scooter guidance are allowed. For more information visit our wheelchairs, scooters and ramps page here.
Are e-unicycles, e-skateboards and hoverboards also banned?
